This darling otter is carved out of fossil walrus tusk ivory. From the remote villages of St. Lawrence Island comes the beautiful and rare “fossil ivory”. Its color is derived from centuries of being buried in the frozen tundra. It is dug in the warm summer months by the coastal Eskimo. The otter measures 3 in. high by 1 in. wide.
